Execute perl script from php but use just variable

I have a perl script that I would like to make available to users of my website, but cannot figure out the best way to accomplish that.
I have a php page that pulls down an object from my S3 bucket using the s3::get_object function. Within that object is a directory called "eval", which contains the perl script.
Here's how I call the object on the php page:
$myObject=s3::get_object( $url, "eval/", S3::ACL_PUBLIC_READ );

My problem is that, when the perl script in "eval" tries to access $myObject, it fails and I get an
